Annoucement: My First Solo Art Exhibition is set for November 15th! Reserve Your Free Tickets Now!
It’s been a while! I’ve been grinding with my head down and my nose in the canvas. I had a few hiccups with some back pain, but we’re finally working through that and on to better feeling day! Rainy days are also the best creative days.
While WE (cause you’re in this with me now) are working feverishly towards our solo show in November, it has come to mind that I still want and like to apply to various art calls! So...what is a Call For Art, for all the non-artists keeping up with me? It is as it sounds: when a gallery, curator, artistic nonprofit, museum, or just about any organization literally calls for art submissions. These are often based on a theme and while I sometimes have art for them, I sometimes enjoy creating new art specifically for various calls. I like to think they are often looking for new and upcoming artists as well; regardless, they are great opportunities for art to be seen when accepted, and this is one of my sole purposes for creating…. for the art I make to be seen ya'll!
I stopped applying for a while because I was set on having all my new new at my own solo show, but I truly do miss having some art outside! Plus, sometimes the calls are great for a creativity shift and an opportunity to challenge the artist's self with something new. We have quite the lineup in April to include the following:
FREDDOX, Austin, Texas, via the Luxe Art Agency. Freddox is the cutest historic Victorian-style Walter Tips House, which was actually moved along Congress Avenue. FREDDO ATX blends old world charm with a vibrant coffee culture. They offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, a large selection of beers on tap, wines from all over the world, a full bar with craft cocktails AND ART! I've had a couple of creatives head that way. If you are in the Austin area, please be sure to stop by and tell them TheCaulkArtist sent you!
Girls Who Paint - Again! And we're not even mad about it. I love love this group so much. This collective consists of an art gallery, event space, offers curated shopping, and Girls Who Paint is co-founded by 2 female artists. We've had a few pieces from the Weights of Women series sell there, and we're sending a few more along with the large Apron! Super excited to get the apron outside!
Blue Prolific Galleries, Houston, TX has officially made yours truly a resident artist! I'm excited to be a part of this new collective and potentially grow with the new gallery located on the North side of Houston! They have a lot of fun activities going on, to include a heavy line up of art shows, art classes, and community art events!
Kohn's Art Bar Houston, TX will be hosting a very provocative and formidable show called: A Womb Of One's Own. Ya'll know this is right up my alley! Power to the Pu$$y! LOL. This event was curated by Dark Arts and will take place on April 26th starting at 7 pm. I will be there! Please stop by and come out and see some powerful and impactful art celebrating women.
And of course, we're still at Vino & Vinyl. Our time will come to an end (again) soon because I'll need those pieces for my November show but for now, we allow them to be seen and encourage visitors to tell Craig, the manager, TheCaulkArtist sent you!
And we're already working on May events that will have new art as well: a sneaker-themed event in early May AND art is officially headed to The Greystone Grand Gallery in Pullman, Washington!
