These headers are never about us. LOL. Anything for the SEO...BUT...can you believe we are less than one week out from my first Solo Exhibition!
So Many Emotions!
Heck yeah, I'm nervous...but not because of the event, or the art...things have a way of just coming together... I am a bit nervous (as I am before ALL events) on who is going to show up! Who did I not account for? Who said they were coming and won't? Who didn't say they were coming with a friend. Attendance matters to me because your experience matters to me. I want you all to have a great time and also...I can't wait for you to see all the art!
I took art down to deliver this week, and I felt a weird sensation of panic. That feeling moms sometimes have when their kids (or pet, or plant, or whatever you mother) are on the monkey bars and we know one wrong move and they're gonna fall. That sensation in your stomach...in your legs...where you are ready to jump to the rescue at any second! Then a sense of deflation as I sat in my studio with almost no art in it! Bare, naked, walls.
My art hanging has always provided me with a sense of accomplishment, so not having pieces around me, had me feeling some type of way...monkey bar impulse-less. I smile now as I type this because soon I'll be overwhelmed with hanging and curating!
Vibes. I am SO looking forward to seeing everyone and enjoying some bubbles (provided by our amazing friends at The Fish), the sounds of Marion DuBoise will kick the evening off, followed by DJ Tito with TunesMobileHTX, photography by Jason Oliphant, and there will be ART, ART, and ART as we celebrate creativity, contrast, and connection!
Meaningful connections and conversations. We are right at 200 guests that will come and go...on a flow. Maggie...don't panic. On a flow means they're coming and going. Some before dinner and some after. 😁 Note: people are asking me if 'Maggie' is the new 'Kerri'. Ha.
Dress code: as much black as you can stand - make it your own, make it playful, or make it powerful... as long as it's black on black on black. Please make note of Houston's evening temperatures. The Warehouse will have a large open door to the outside. Mother Nature has assured me she will be kind.
Parking is available at the Warehouse space for free. The warehouse strip center is closed on Saturdays, so you can park pretty much anywhere. Note: the TMG Warehouse is located at the end of the strip.
Wine and bubbles will be provided. I will have red and white... but if that's not your thing, please bring your beverage of choice. Yes, you read that right. We will have a bartender, ice, and cups...but (another) note this is not a restaurant and it is not a bar. Please be kind (and tip if you can) to the one bartender who will be working hard for ya'll. She's gonna kill me when she reads 200.
Am I too late to join you? Never... bring a friend, sip something, and immerse yourself in a night designed to move you. If you've missed out on the free passes, send me a note, I have a code for you last-minute types 😆 - and another subscriber exclusive...
As a subscriber, there is a private preview of the show available to subscribers sent via email today (if you're coming, don't you dare click that link: Maggie! Kerri! Teresa!), and for anyone who would like to see artwork before opening night, I am accepting private viewings all next week prior to Saturday. Just shoot me an email and we'll make it happen!
I am beyond excited and thrilled and I can't wait to see you there.
Thank you for believing in me!
